Check to see if you have Examview on your computer.
  1. To find it on a PC , if you go to the start menu startmenu.jpg and type Examview in the search box, you should see Examview.JPG.
  2. To find it on a Mac, you need to go to Applications folder, then find the eInstruction folder, and you should see Examview Test Generator.
*Note: If you see ExamView Test Generator on your computer, but it is not in the eInstruction folder, please put it in the trash, empty the trash, and follow the instructions below to download the new version.

Create a Test from an Existing Bank
1. Open ExamView Test Generator

2. Choose to Make a Test from Scratch.

3. Name the Test and remember this does NOT save the test. You must save before you exit the program.

4. Go to Select and choose While Viewing to start entering questions.

5. Highlight the Bank you wish to get questions from and Click Select. Then click Next.

6. Check the box next to all the questions you want to include on your assessment. Then click Finish. You now have a complete assessment that is ready to print/share.

Create a New Bank
1. Open ExamView Test Generator

2. Choose to Create a New Question Bank

3. Name the Bank (Subtitle is not required) and remember this does NOT save the test. You must save before you exit the program.

4. Choose Preferences under Edit>Preferences. This is where you can set Answer Choice ABCDE or ABCDE-FGHJK and the default font.

5. To set the Answer Choice Style go to the Style Tab and Select the Answer Choice Style and the Choice Sequence you wish to use. You can click Save as Default at the bottom and it will always use this Style when you start a new test.

6. To set the Default Font go to the Style Tab and Select Fonts, Click the Set button beside each Font Style and change to the Default Font you prefer. (Times New Roman 11 and Tahoma 12 are the ones the district is currently using). Select Save as Default.

7. To set the Default Column Number for the Answer Choices. While in the Preferences Window, select the Editing Tab. Under Multiple Choice/Multiple Response Choose the Default number of columns for new questions to be 1. Then Click Save As Default.

8. Choose Question>New> and then the type of question (you should use Bimodal or Multiple Response only).

9. Type in the Question and Answer Choice and mark the correct answer(s).

10. Select Info... at the bottom of the Question Box. In the Difficulty box, type the Webb's Depth of Knowledge Number for the question. In the State Standard box, type the number and verbage of the standard that correlates to the question. Click Ok.

11. In the Rationale box, type the distractor rationale in the box. Click Record to Save the question.

Create Narratives - You can reuse Narratives in multiple questions/tests without having to retype the Narrative.
1. Click Question on the Menu bar and then Select Narratives.

2. Click New at the bottom.

3. Type or copy and paste your text, graph, etc. into the narrative space. Name the narrative in the bottom right-hand corner. Click Record to save.

4. Then click Done on this window.

5. Click on Question in the menu at the top and select the type of question you want to create. Type the question and answer choices as usual, then at the bottom next to Narrative select the name of the narrative you wish to use. Click record to save the question.
